India launches low-cost internet access device

India MapNew Delhi - India launched an inexpensive computing and internet access device Wednesday, as officials dismissed earlier reports that it would unveil the world's lowest-priced laptop computer, local media reported.

The device was unveiled at the "National Mission on Education through Information and Computer Technology" in the southern city of Tirupati on Tuesday, the Hindu newspaper reported.

President Patil calls for effective waste management policy

Pratibha PatilNew Delhi, Feb 4 : President Pratibha Patil today called for an effective waste management policy of plastic to save the environment from its ill effects.

Inaugurating the seventh International Plastic Exhibition and Conference here, Patil said this could be achieved by adopting a proper recycling technology.

"There are technologies which can address the issue and appealed to take all inputs from the exhibition for adopting suitable technologies effective waste management and cleaning up of the environment," she added.

Clarkson, the first and one of the most successful winners of TV talent show "American Idol", told AOL''s pop culture news site, PopEater. com, that she was accustomed to being asked if she was secretly gay, reports the China Daily.
