Ten-man Sevilla second after comeback win in La Coruna

Ten-man Sevilla second after comeback win in La CorunaMadrid  - Sevilla moved up to second in the Spanish Liga on Saturday with a dramatic 3-1 comeback win away to sixth-placed Deportivo Coruna.

Sevilla turned the tables thanks to goals from Luis Fabiano, Renato and Diego Capel - and despite the sending-off of Enzo Maresca.

"This was a really important win for us," said Renato, "given how it happened."

Sevilla now have 35 points from 18 games, nine points less than record-breaking leaders Barcelona, who are away to bottom team Osasuna on Sunday.

Valencia - currently two points behind Sevilla - will reclaim second place if they beat local rivals Villarreal at home later on Saturday.

Rodolfo Bodipo gave Deportivo the lead in the 35th minute, with a near-post drive which surprised sluggish Sevilla keeper Andres Palop.

Seven minutes later things went from bad to worse for Sevilla, when Maresca was sent off for a mindless elbow on Bodipo.

But Sevilla coach Manolo Jimenez changed the game by bringing Frederic Kanoute off the bench at half-time and putting him out on the right wing.

Six minutes into the second-half, Kanoute centred for Luis Fabiano to make it 1-1 at the near post.

And 11 minutes from time - with Deportivo pouring forward and leaving gaps at the back - the Mali international again broke free down the right. This time he centred for Renato to score with a diving header.

Three minutes into injury time Sevilla launched another lethal counter, and Jesus Navas centred for fellow winger Capel to make it 3-1. (dpa)
