TV Employees Restart Work After 2 Week Long Strike

TV Employees Restart Work After 2 Week Long StrikeHere’s good news for the viewers of daily soap operas.

The workers of the television industry finally decided to end their strike, and went back to work on Monday.

The producers are now hoping to telecast the new shows as soon as possible.

While speaking on this, Dinesh Chaturvedi, General Secretary of Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) said, "We all are back to work and there is no problem now. Shooting has begun everywhere."

The FWICE Union consists of more than 20 unions that include light man, make-up man, sound recordists and many others.

Earlier, FWICE decided to end their 2 week long strike on last Wednesday, but some members of the Union walked out again on Thursday.

It must be here recalled that the members of FWICE signed a MoU on November 19, which stated for an overall increase of 35 per cent in salary to most of the workers of the TV industry. However, the very next day, some members of the Union including sound recordists, production controllers and make-up men refused to accept the deal. The result, there was no shooting.

Commenting on the question, if sound recordists and make-up men have agreed to report back to work, Chaturvedi said, "Yes. They too have agreed."

According to an estimate, industry lost nearly Rs 150 crore a day of the strike.
