Madrid - Spanish football club Valencia announced on Friday that defender Alexis will be out of action for around two months because of a pubis injury.

Alexis will undergo an operation on the problem that has bothered him since October.

He limped out of last Sunday's 3-2 defeat of Betis and missed Thursday's 1-1 UEFA Cup draw against FC Bruges.

Valencia's other injury victims at the moment are midfielders David Silva and Edu.

"Los Ches" are currently third in La Liga, five points behind leaders Barcelona, who they visit on Saturday in the top Liga match of the weekend. (dpa)
