£114.5m Funding for Health Research Centers of CambridgeRecently, the health research centers of Cambridge have received an award of £114.5m. The award has been given by the Prime Minster David Cameron in the form of additional findings. It has been informed that the money will spent over a period of five years with the motive of bringing advancement in the way of treating and diagnosing cancer and other life threatening diseases.

It has been informed that out of the awarded fund, £110m will be given to the University of Cambridge and Cambridge University Hospitals Trust, which runs Addenbrooke's and the Rosie Hospital. The rest of the amount will be utilized towards developing research center for dementia.

The Cambridge partnership already holds high reputation as a national leader in research. The funding will further improve its reputation in the research filed. It is believed that the funding will help in improving care and treatment given to patients.

While receiving the money, Dr. John Bradley, Director of the NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre, said, “We are delighted to receive the news that we have retained our Biomedical Research Centre designation - and even more pleased that the international selection panel has recommended a considerable increase in our funding. This will allow the partnership between Cambridge University Hospitals and the University of Cambridge to build on the substantial achievements of the last five years”.
