16 Admitted To Hyderabad Hospital Due To Food Poisoning

16 Admitted To Hyderabad Hospital Due To Food Poisoning Sixteen people including 14 MBA students and 2 children from Karnataka were admitted to Gandhi Hospital on Friday following food poisoning symptoms in Hyderabad.

The police sources said that two of them are serious.

The sources also said that a group of 86 people, including final year MBA students from Garden City College in Bangalore, and their college faculty members came to the city on April 29 as part of study tour.

All of them stayed at a hotel-cum-lodge ‘Sai Krupa’ at Chikkadpally.

At night, some of the students and faculty members had dinner at the hotel but others purchased biryani from two famous hotels of the city.

But, 16 persons including pupils and two kids of one of the faculty members started vomiting and suffered dysentery during the wee hours of Friday.

Chikkadpally police sub-inspector Satyanarayana said, “Those who had their dinner in the hotel took ill at night.”

The faculty members along with hotel staff took them to Gandhi Hospital, and they were admitted to the Acute Medical Care (AMC) unit of the hospital, where they are getting treatment.

However, the Garden City College Management denied that any of its MBA students were on the trip.

A management official at the college said, “Final year MBA students are all in their classes. There is absolutely no chance of them being out. However, if there is any student with a problem, we are ready to help.”

The Chikkadpally police filed a case under Section 269 (negligently doing any act known to be likely to spread infection of any disease dangerous to life) of the IPC against the hotel management.

GHMC health sanitation wing functionaries have collected food and water samples from hotel for examination.
