A new swine flu case has been reported in Hyderabad on Thursday.

A 16-year-old boy, who came from US, was admitted to the Government General and Chest Hospital, Erragadda for suspected A (H1N1) flu.

Dr. S V Prasad, Superintendent, Chest Hospital, stated that when the boy was quarantined by the medical group at the airport on Thursday, he had fever, cold and soar throat.

The airport authorities shifted the boy to the hospital for treatment.

Dr. Prasad said, “He has been quarantined and put on treatment. His swab samples have also been sent to the National Institute of Communicable Disease (NICD) and the reports are awaited.”

Dr. Prasad added that the number of persons tested positive for influenza A (H1N1) flu virus increased to 3 in Hyderabad thus far.

Two persons tested positive for the flu earlier are under treatment at the Chest hospital.

He said that the patients have been put on anti-viral drug Oseltamivir, and that their condition is stable and satisfactory.

While answering whether the problems of cough and cold getting common in the monsoon season would give spread the deadly disease further, Dr. Prasad said, "There was no cause for worry as it has not spread among the community so far and has caught only people coming from abroad from the affected areas."
