21% cut in Medicare payment rates

21% cut in Medicare payment ratesAs the much-debated 21% cut in the Medicare payment rates to doctors is now in effect, many doctors in the U. S. aren't showing any overwhelming signs to the same. In fact, many of them are not seeing Medicare patients altogether showing unhappiness towards the threat of a payment cut under federal law requiring that reimbursement rates be adjusted annually based on a formula tied to the health of the economy.

However, Patient advocacy groups are of a view that this growing doctor boycott against Medicare is a big concern to senior citizens living in the country. It is estimated that around 43 million Americans currently receive Medicare coverage.

Analysts believe that it will be very hard for the patients to find a doctor if the scenario continues as it is already very hard to find a Medicare doctor and it will be really painful to find another one after a doctor drops the patient. In fact, experts believe that doctors whose business account more from Medicare patients will have to see Medicare patients as they don't have much choice but for the rest, the congressman will have to fix it soon.
