About 215 children of Morarji Desai Residential School in Chamarajpet suffered from food poisoning after consuming idli and sambar served in breakfast on Thursday morning.

However, all of them were reported to be out of danger.

It is learnt that the children started vomiting within minutes of consuming the breakfast.

They were rushed immediately to close by Vani Vilas Hospital.

Confirming the development, Dr O S Siddappa, Medical superintendent, Vani Villas hospital said: "Nearly 215 students of sixth standard who complained of vomiting, giddiness and abdomen pain after breakfast in the hostel mess were brought here."

According to the sources, Savitha, a cook-cum-teacher of the school had alleged that an eighth standard student had added some toxic substances to the ingredients which were used to prepare idlis.

Meanwhile, the police had registered a case of food poisoning.

Apart from the local authorities, the officials from the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) have also collected milk samples from the school to check its quality.
