New Delhi, Nov 17 : With 39 new dengue cases reported in the national capital Tuesday, the total number of people infected with the vector-borne disease touched
883, health officials said.

"We have recorded 39 new dengue cases in the capital in the past 24 hours," said N. K. Yadav, chief medical officer of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

The MCD is taking all measures to check water logging in various parts of the capital after Monday's rainfall.

Until now, two dengue deaths have been reported in the capital - one of a nine-year-old and other of a 15-year-old boy.

With the onset of winter in Delhi, the health department is expecting the number of dengue cases to fall as the Aedes mosquitoes, the carrier of the disease, will stop breeding, the official said.(IANS)
