London, June 24 : Five time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams took the first step towards her sixth title, but not without revealing that she still gets nervous.

"I still get nervous before a Grand Slam. But it''s just how you deal with it," The Sun quoted Williams, as saying.

The defending women''s champion, 29, eased to a 6-3 6-2 win over Swiss newcomer Stefanie Voegele.

"I''m pretty happy with how I started my defence of the title and I really enjoyed being out there," she said.

"Wimbledon has been a place of great success and pure joy for me," she added. (ANI)
