7 New Deaths Take India's Swine Flu Toll To 396

swine-fluThe number of those dying from swine flu in India is on a rise.

The death toll in the country has gone up to 396, with the death of 7 more people reported from different parts of the country on Tuesday.

Out of the 7, Maharashtra reported 5 swine flu fatalities on Tuesday, while two casualties were reported from Karnataka.

In Maharashtra, the state worst hit by swine flu pandemic, one death was reported on Tuesday while four other deaths, which had occurred earlier, were confirmed as swine flu cases.

Speaking on this, an official of the health department said: “We were awaiting the lab reports of these four cases. It was confirmed that they died due to swine flu today only after the reports came.”

Meanwhile, with the death of two more people in Karnataka, the death toll in the state reached to 112.

Apart from this, over 140 fresh swine flu cases were recorded in the country, taking the total number of positive cases to 12, 185.

Of these 140 new cases, national capital Delhi reported 30, followed by Maharashtra (23), Karnataka (22), Tamil Nadu (22), Kerala (13) and Haryana (8).
