Aamir's debut 'Raakh' to be re-released

Bollywood superstar Aamir KhanVery few people know that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan made his debut as an actor through intense drama like Raakh in 1989. Although Raakh was not his first release. Audacity International founded by director Aditya Bhattacharya and Asif Noor, the producer of the film and 12 other investors will distribute and support the release of independent cinema in India. Raakh will be released on 12 June with
200 prints across India.

Raakh introduced various new talents to the Bollywood. The list includes Santosh Sivan, well known cinematographer, Sreekar Prasad, national award winning editor, well-known musician Ranjit Barot, director Sangeeth Sivan (as an executive producer). Pankaj Kapur got the National Award for best supporting actor for Raakh.

The prestigious Bengal Film Journalist's Association gave the National Award for best editing to Sreekar Prasad and best directorial début award for Aditya Bhattacharya for the Raakh.

Gautam Shiknis, MD and Founder of Palador Pictures said: "Raakh is undoubtedly one of the most influential voices from India and it shaped my early fascination towards films that were non-Bollywood. It was tragic to see cult classics like this languishing and in a state of neglect. Restoring and re-releasing Raakh across the world is not just a passion but our duty towards cinema."
