The government is not planning to jump over the line on the mercy petition of the convict Afzal Guru. He is the main accused of the parliament attack. This has been informed by Home secretary G. K. Pillai. He has said that Afzal Guru is waiting for the decision of the mercy petition in the President's office.
Nobody will expedite the execution of Afzal Guru. He has also denied that the government is not considering any fast- track decision on the victim's destiny.
Pillai was asked about the intense agitation on Guru's mercy petition which is being moving to and forth in-between the Delhi government and the Home ministry.
But he has said that they are sending reminders to the State governments because they have already sent 20 numbers of general reminders. He has also said that all these news are media hype.
Afzal Guru was a dealer of surgical instrument and medicine in Kashmir. He was sentenced to death in the year 2002, for the Parliament attack case of year 2001 which killed 13 security personnel.
