Agartala on its way to become ‘solar city’- Tripura

Solar-PanelPlanning to introduce solar energy in the state capital, Tripura government is making a report to make use of the alternate form of energy and thus making it mandatory for usage.

Joy Gobinda Debroy, Tripura Science, Technology and Environment Minister said, "We have decided to make solar energy provision mandatory in buildings to make Agartala a solar city to keep it free from environmental pollution".

The present rules are bound to change as government stresses on making solar energy an obligation when compared to the dependence on conventional energy. He further added that the rule shall be implied upon all the private, government and commercial buildings.

However the central government on other hand suggests that the north-eastern state capitals after deploying this procedure would be among 60 cities countrywide to use solar energy. Debroy further added that the work has been initiated on this module and the next elementary steps involving a survey would be undertaken in Agartala next month.
