Ajmal Shahzad selected in England’s one-day squad
The Yorkshire seam bowler Ajmal Shahzad has been selected in the English squad for the one day matches against Scotland and Australia. The 24 year old pace bowler comes in to the squad as a replacement for the Nottinghamshire pace bowler Ryan Sidebottom who has been dropped because of his hamstring injury.
Sidebottom will remain with the English squad till recovery of that injury.
Shahzad had played only one limited over one-day match against Bangladesh and made his test debut against the same team in the last test series. England will play only one one-day match against Scotland before going to the five-match one day series against Aussies in the Natwest Series.
Shahzad had performed impressively in his test debut and has taken four Bangladeshi wickets. He was one of the major contributors in England's innings victory over Bangladesh at Old Trafford earlier in this month. Despite of that performance he was not selected for the one-day squad as the Yorkshire all rounder Tim Bresnan was in for the match after his recovery from injury.
