Akram offers to help Johnson to resurrect his Ashes campaignAkram offers to help Johnson to resurrect his Ashes campaignMelbourne, July 25 : The greatest left-arm pacer of all time, Wasim Akram, has offered to come to the aid of Mitchell Johnson, as the Australian paceman seeks to resurrect his Ashes campaign.

The Pakistani great, who is based in Manchester, has been watching Johnson's struggles, noting the mechanical problems that contributed to the 27-year-old's wayward spells in the second Test at Lord''s.

He said he would "absolutely" be prepared to share his experience and technical suggestions with Johnson, whom he regards alongside India's Zaheer Khan as the best left-arm paceman in the world, The Age reported.

"My idea of helping in cricket is it doesn''t matter which nationality, anybody who comes to me I am there to give them a suggestion and my experiences. Mitchell Johnson is a nice guy and a very talented cricketer and I would love to help him if he needs me at any stage," Akram said.

"I don''t know how to get in touch but if I have his number I can give him a shout, that''s not a problem," he added.

Akram believes it should be relatively simple to correct the low arm action that caused Johnson to spray some balls short and wide and send others sliding down the leg side during Australia''s 115-run defeat at Lord''s.

However, he suspected Johnson had not adjusted to the slower English wickets and the Duke balls used in England, The Age reports. (ANI)
