Akshay & Kareena Starrer ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ Nets Rs 100 Crore In First Week!
The big news doing the rounds is that Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor starrer Kambakkht Ishq has become one of the most successful openings in the Indian cinema.
After Yash Raj Film's 'New York', Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment's and Eros International's Kambakkht Ishq also got a bumper opening at the box office.
Eros International, the film's co-producer and distributor, said that Kambakkht Ishq has registered a stunning opening grossing over Rs 100 crores worldwide in its very first week.
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by newcomer Shabbir Khan, 'Kambakkht Ishq', released on July 3 on a record 2,000 prints worldwide has grossed Rs. 70 crores in India (Rs. 42 crores net) and Rs. 21 crores overseas with music & digital platforms grossing Rs. 10 crores.
It should be noted here that the film has been produced at a cost of Rs. 62 crores, including print and advertisement cost.
Commenting over this, Nandu Ahuja, executive vice president, Distribution India, Eros International said: "The superb run of the film in its opening weekend has superseded all expectations and we are confident of the film's performance in the weeks to come."
Riding on the BO draw of Akshay, his pairing with the sexy Kareena and participation by Hollywood actors Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Raouth and Denise Richards, the film has swept audiences off their feet with house full boards being witnessed in theatres across the country.
The film even recorded 100 per cent collections on the opening day in most of the cinema halls in the country.
Apart from India, the film hit the threatres in foreign markets with a bang.
In USA alone, the film saw strong opening figures of $700,000.
In Pakistan, it grossed $100,000 from only 15 prints, the highest ever for any Bollywood film.
Moreover, the film also touched the number eight position in the UK following its release.
The film released across India, Pakistan, Britain, US, Australia, Europe, South Africa, Fiji Island, Middle East and Malaysia, among others.
