Amazon's browser-based MP3 store optimized for iOS devices

Amazon's browser-based MP3 store optimized for iOS devices Online retail giant Amazon's aggressive move to launch an HTML5 browser-based MP3 store that has been optimized for the iPhone and iPod Touch will give the users the ability to conveniently purchase songs through their mobile Safari browser.

The accessibility of Amazon's web-based store for the Amazon Music Store from an iOS device is clearly a win-win situation for the Web giant, even though the store will comparatively much less user-friendly than the iTunes Music Store and the iOS music player.

While Amazon's MP3 mobile store will allow users to access the Amazon catalog of 22 million songs on the iOS devices at amazon. com/mp3, any purchase of songs through Amazon will - as per the rules which Apple has in place for its App Store - require the users to open a browser.

All of the users' song purchases via Amazon will automatically be saved to their `Cloud Player' library; and they will thereafter be able to download the songs or play instantly from any iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, by using the official Amazon Cloud Player app.

About the Amazon MP3 mobile store, Amazon Music VP Steve Boom said that iOS users will be able to "buy music from Amazon right from their devices," and added: "Now they (iOS users) can access Amazon's huge catalog of music, features like personalized recommendations, deals like albums for $5, songs for $0.69, and they can buy their music once and use it everywhere."
