HTC Android Handsets will not be available by the fourth quarter this year (2008). The HTC handsets would be available during the first half of 2009.

HTC is said to be facing issues incorporating Google’s required feature set in the mobile device they are building on the Android mobile platform.

The developers also showed interest in other platform such as Symbian, Windows Mobile, or Apple's iPhone.

Google has denied the reports of rolling back from the deal. The company official said that Google is optimistic to deliver the first Android-based handset this year. He said that Android platform would be best suited for carriers, handset manufacturers, developers, and consumers.

Android platform is an operating system developed by google in last November. It is specially designed platform for mobile devices. It is expected to give stiff competition to already present players in the market.
