A 38-year-old man who hails from Himachal Pradesh has been quarantined on Monday, after health officials suspected that he was suffering from for the deadly H1N1 flu virus.

Confirming the development, Mr. Rajeev Bindal, state Health Minister said, “A 38-year-old man, who returned from Bahrain Friday, was quarantined (Monday) evening after he showed symptoms of swine flu.”

Mr. Ashok who landed in Delhi on June 12 from Bahrain on the same Qatar Airlines flight in which a group of Jalandhar pupils who tested positive for Influenza A H1N1 travelled.

An expert medical group on Monday visited Kumar’s house in Dehra village in Kangra district, and quarantined all his family members for swine flu.

Dr. G R Kaushal, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Kangra told, “The 30-year-old man and seven other members of his family have been kept under surveillance for 10 days.”

Head of state-level Rapid Response Team on Influenza A H1N1, Vinod Mehta said that Mr. Kumar is being tested on a daily basis and his blood sample will be forwarded for microbiological examination on detection of even a minor symptom.

In India, Swine flu cases jumped to 31 after 7 pupils from Punjab who arrived from the US, and a boy arrived in Hyderabad on June 14 tested positive for the disease.
