Another company landed on the tiger’s landChina's Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Company Limited (ZELC), one of the country's biggest locomotive makers is the latest player to enter into the Indian market.

It is to be mentioned here that the company earned close to $700 million from contracts with India, Malaysia, Singapore and Saudi Arabia. It may be noted here that the company signed a contract to supply subway trains to India in June this year.

Moreover, close to 114 subway maintenance vehicles were sold by the company to Singapore in June 2009, while Saudi Arabia had placed an order to purchase locomotives in July.

While it is based in Zhuzhou city in China's central Hunan province, its world-class technologies in product design and manufacture helped it to do brisk business.

Moreover, the plan of the company comes from the plans to raise the share of overseas income to gross income from current 10 to 20 percent in five years. It has been recently reported by a newspaper that ZELC, a subsidiary of China South Locomotive & Rolling (CSR), has recently signed a $590-million contract with Malaysia to supply inter-city trains. Under the terms of the deal, the government need these trains which will run on the north-south line of Kuala Lumpur, the city's busiest shuttle line.
