A.R. Rahman Gets Grammy Nomination
After winning Oscar and Golden globe, now it’s Grammy time for ace Indian music director A.R. Rahman.
The Mozart of Madras has been selected in two categories at the 2010 Grammy Awards for his "SlumDog Millionaire" soundtrack.
Rahman gets nominated in the best soundtrack for motion pictures, TV or other visual media category for the movie, and in the best song for motion picture, TV and other visual media category for his stupendous creation "Jai ho".
Penned by top lyricist Gulzar, the song was sung by Mahalaxmi Iyer, Tanvi Shah, Vijay Prakash, Sukhvinder Singh and Rahman.
The 44-year-old music director has been nominated in Grammys for the first time.
‘Jai Ho’ will face competition from Bruce Springsteen’s title track for The Wrestler, ‘Once in a Lifetime’ from Cadillac Records, ‘Decode’ from Twilight and ‘The Client’ from Hannah Montana: The Movie.
In the meantime, Sarod expert Ustad Amjad Ali Khan also received nomination for the Grammy award in the best traditional world music album category.
The 52nd edition of the Annual Grammy Awards will took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Janyary 31, 2010.
