Aramex posts 30 per cent surge in profit on logistics services gains

AramexAramex, leading logistics solutions provider has reported a growth of 30% in its net profit to Dh 50 million for the quarter ending June 30, compared to Dh 38.4 million for the corresponding period in 2008.

Company's revenues for the second quarter dropped by 10% at Dh 485 million, from Dh 539.3 million registered during the same period in 2008.

The company continued to report a growth in net profits, among a challenging economic environment, reflecting the adaptability and resilience of its asset-light business model and its prudent cost management programmes.

Aramex's net profit for the first half of 2009 grew by 25% at Dh 93.1 million, over Dh74.6m recorded in the first six months of 2008. Revenues for the similar period dropped by
8% to Dh 48.4 million, from Dh 1,033.7 million registered in the corresponding period in 2008.

Meanwhile, led by increased revenues of the company's international and domestic express products, revenues in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region for the first six months of 2009 registered a growth of 6% over the same period last year.
