Arcelor-Mittal to submit its DPR for Orissa projectWorld's largest steel maker Arcelor-Mittal will submit its detailed project to Orissa government soon. And also the company would proceed in a phased manner to implement its Orissa project.

Company's Chief Executive Officer (India) Vijay Bhatnagar said that the detailed project report is ready and an expert panel is going to examine it.

"Once the study by the technical experts is over, the DPR will be submitted to the state government," Mr Bhatnagar informed.

Bhatnagar along with company's India greenfield project Chief Executive Officer Sanak Mishra met Orissa Chief Minister on Monday.

Regarding the progress of the Orissa project, he said, there are about 1,400 acres of forest land within the site for which permission for diversion is required.

The company has submitted papers with the Orissa government and expect the state government to initiate action on this proposal, he added.
The construction work will start after land acquisition.

Arcelor-Mittal had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Orissa government for setting up a 12 mtpa steel plant in December 2006. The Orissa government has already given the administrative approval for acquisition of 7,750 acres of land for the purpose.
