ASUS might showcase its ‘PadFone’ at Computex 2011

ASUS might showcase its ‘PadFone’ at Computex 2011ASUS is reportedly planning to showcase its new PadFone, which is a Android smartphone that docks on the back of a larger-screened tablet, at the Computex 2011 event.

Some of pictures of the device have appeared on the internet and the concept appears to be similar to that of Motorola Atrix 4G smartphone. The difference is that Atrix docked in to a laptop-like companion, consisting of a keyboard and screen.

Asus has used its Facebook page to indicate that it will showcase a new much thinner Eee PC and a revolutionary Tablet Phone.

Asus has posted pictures on its page of the new PC and is asking users’ response about using Linux on the Eee PC. “What do you prefer to use, pad, notebook or netbook? Also, given that we were first to try Linux with the Eee PC 701 back in 2007 - we'd like to know again: is Windows still a firm requirement for your everyday needs?”

Another picture is of a device that looks like a tablet or could possibly be a smartphone with a larger, tablet dock. The device has a tagline, “Break the Rules: Pad or Phone?” Additional pictures show and asks," “Hmmm tablets with bumps... is it pregnant??"

The last device carriers a description that reads, “a tablet that jumps out at you” possibly indicating that the users will be able to put the phone in and out of the tablet dock.
