Vilnius  - The Austrian national rugby team stripped naked in downtown Vilnius after a crushing defeat by Lithuania, local media reported Tuesday.

Following the match, the 22 men climbed on top of stairs near a bar on Gediminas prospektas - the main pedestrian street in the Lithuanian capital - started to sing cheers, and take off their clothes to the applause of the public.

Austria lost 48-0 to Lithuania in the Saturday rugby match gby team in the European Championship's 3B division.

A video of the act was posted on the internet video sharing site YouTube over the weekend, but it was later taken off.

After the act, the national team put on their clothes and continued on their walk. (dpa)
