AWS Convergence Technologies to provide lightning location technologies to Army

AWS Convergence Technologies to provide lightning location technologies to ArmyAccording to official reports, the U. S. Army has contracted AWS Convergence Technologies to provide lightning location technologies to be used at seven Army test installations.

The Army Research Development Test and Evaluation Meteorology Program selected its WeatherBug Total Lightning Network to provide lightning data for research applications, U. S. Company AWS has said.

It will deploy the WTLN, a comprehensive lightning detection and location data generation technology at the Dugway Proving Ground, Aberdeen Test Center, Electronic Proving Ground and Redstone Test Center along with three other military research facilities, says the Army.

The meteorology research teams at the seven Army installations are expected to use the WTLN data to develop weather and climate products for defense and readiness applications, AWS said in a release.

AWS Chief Executive Officer Robert Marshall said in a statement, "Our continued expansion with federal initiatives embraces our aim to empower society with the most advanced weather intelligence." (With Inputs from Agencies)
