Barack Obama hires Cindy Crawford’s interior decorator for White House roomsWashington, Jan 15 : U. S. President-elect Barack Obama has hired the same interior designer as American actors Cindy Crawford and Steven Spielberg to decorate the White House rooms.

Michael S. Smith, from California, has been working on 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha''s bedrooms, and his vision is to make the rooms more kid-friendly.

According to the Washington Post, Michelle Obama''s spokesperson Katie McCormick Lelyveld has revealed that Smith has been choosing items from "a variety of different outlets, kid-friendly everyday retail stores."

He has even won the favour of the incoming First Lady, who shares the same idea as him.

"Michael shares my vision for creating a family-friendly feel to our new home and incorporating some new perspectives from some of America''s greatest artists and designers," People magazine quoted Michelle Obama as saying.

Smith, who told the Domino magazine in 2008 that he would "love to redecorate the White House as he is sick of the paint color," has based his decoration on the family''s casual style.

He said: "Their interest in bringing 20th century American artists to the forefront and utilizing affordable brands and products will serve as our guiding principles as we make the residence feel like their home." (ANI)
