Barbara Kingsolver has been announced as the winner of the Orange-Prize for Fiction this year for her number six novel ‘The Lacuna’. This US author has firmed the favorite of Booker prize Hilary Mantel and other four authors to win the Orange Prize worth 30,000 Euros at an award ceremony at central London.
The award is for the work of fiction written by women all across the world and it is now on its 15th year.
Daisy Goodwin who is an author and a TV producer and now being in the chair of the judges has praised the breathtaking scale of the winning book. Barbara Kingsolver has got her award from the Duchess of Cornwall at an award ceremony on Wednesday at the Royal Festival Hall.
The US author aged 55 years was earlier nominated for the Orange-Prize award in the year 1999 for her novel ‘The Poisonwood Bible’.
Goodwin has said we had so many different tastes of novels and every novel is very nice in its own way but at last we go with the passion not with the compromise.
