BCIC submits 12-point action plan to Karnataka CMIn a bid to revive Karnataka's manufacturing sector, the Bangalore Chamber of Industry & Commerce (BCIC) has submitted a twelve-point action plan to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

On Monday, the BCIC released its document titled `Driving Economic Prosperity & Inclusive Growth - Economic Agenda for the government of Karnataka, 2013-18'. It wants the government to implement the 12-point strategy in the state to boost manufacturing.

M Lakshminarayan, President of BCIC, said, "The chamber has put together a 12-point action agenda for the government to consider keeping in mind the theme of driving economic prosperity and inclusive growth."

The BCIC's action plan calls for establishing agro and food processing parks in the state; removal of double taxation in APMC Act; and appointment of a dedicated minister for development of Bangalore and focus on infrastructure like roads, power, waste management and water supply.

It also calls the government for leveraging the proposed Mumbai-Bangalore Corridor; instead of spending money on the development of an eight-lane road linking Bidar to Chamarajanagar as announced by Siddaramaiah's party in the pre-poll manifesto.

The industry body also suggested that the government should develop sector-specific industrial zones along the Mumbai-Bangalore Corridor as well as secondary corridors linking other parts of the state, as it would lead to equable regional development and employment generation.
