Benazir has “no right” to demand my resignation: Musharraf

Islamabad, Nov 14: Benazir Bhutto and Pervez MusharrafReacting to former premier Benazir Bhutto’s demand to step down as President, General Pervez Musharraf has said that she has “no right” to ask him to resign as President and Chief of Army Staff.

Musharraf criticised Bhutto by saying she was confrontational, and added that it would be difficult to work with her.

“You come here on supposedly on a reconciliatory mode, and right before you land, you’re on a confrontationist mode. I am afraid this is producing negative vibes, negative optics, ” Musharraf told the New York Times in an interview.

Commenting on Bhutto’s house arrest, Musharraf said the step was taken because she had accused Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi of plotting against her. So, Bhutto was grounded to prevent an incident that she could then blame on the government, he said. (ANI)
