Bharti Airtel to offer submarine cable data capacity to Reliance JioIndia's largest mobile-phone operator, Bharti Airtel has entered into an agreement with a unit of Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries to offer data capacity on its submarine cable that connects India and Singapore.

Mumbai-based unit of Ambani's Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL), Reliance Jio Infocomm will receive dedicated capacity on Bharti's i2i submarine cable that will allow the company to offer its services to customers in the larger Asia pacific region through the expanded network. The two companies also said sin the joint statement they will look for other areas of mutual collaboration by leveraging their assets.

Reliance might be planning to launch 4G network in the country using the fiber-optic network of Reliance Communications Ltd. (RCOM), which is headed by younger brother, Anil Ambani. Reliance Jio is looking to offer voice and data services I based on its 4G network in the country. It is the only player in the market with the capability to launch4G services across the country because it has licences to 20 MHz pan-India spectrum. Reliance Jio had acquired pan-Indian BWA spectrum it acquired in 2010. The company was earlier known as Infotel Broadband and it was renamed after it was acquired by RIL.
