Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), India’s largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise, has bagged new order from Bhutan. BHEL manufactures more than 180 products under 30 major product groups.
The company caters to core sectors of the Indian Economy viz., Power Generation & Transmission, Industry, Transportation, Telecommunication, Renewable Energy, etc. The company also has been earning profits continuously since it inception in 1971-72 and paying dividends since 1976-77.
The company has recently achieved Rs 1,000 crore contract in Bhutan for supplying equipment to a hydro power project there. BHEL bagged this contract from Punatsangchhu Hydroelectric Project Authority, for the electro-mechanical equipment package for a 1,200 MW (6x200 MW) hydroelectric project, the company said.
This order considers manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the electro-mechanical equipment for the 1,200-MW Punatsangchhu-I Hydroelectric project. The project has a bilateral agreement between the Government of India, and the Royal Government of Bhutan.
