Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) promoted Reliance Big TV has signed a four week content agreement with Sony Music to showcase Michael Jackson's Live in Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour on its PPV service.
The DTH service provider will premiere the concert on 12 July.
The company claims that this is the first non-film premiere on the DTH platform in the country.
Big TV, having a user base of 1.8 million, plans to drive its PPV revenues through differentiated content acquisitions. This includes non-film content on its PPV platform.
Priced at Rs 25, Big TV will pocket 80 per cent of the revenue while Sony BMG will share the balance 20 per cent.
Commenting over this, Sanjay Behl, CEO, Big TV, said: "We are expecting a hike in our PPV viewership as the subject is very topical."
It should be noted here that 'Live in Bucharest' is the first leg of Jackson's Dangerous World Tour, which took place on October 1, 1992, at the Bucharest National Stadium.
It is considered as one of the largest and unforgettable concerts.
Moreover, the concert had a sold-out attendance of 170,000.
Later, in 2005, a DVD of the concert was brought out, of which 950,000 copies were sold worldwide.
