BJP will win 40 seats in UP, says Rajnath

rajnath-singhLucknow, June 27 : Accusing the Congress-led UPA government of all-round failure, BJP president Rajnath Singh Thursday said the people were yearning for a change and expressed hope that his party would bag 40 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh in the 2014 general elections.

Addressing a press conference here on the second day of his visit to the state, he also accused the Congress of trying to hoodwink the people with new schemes.

"To hide their corruption and failure on all major fronts, the Congress is trying to create confusion among the people by talking of welfare schemes and can even play a 'pseudo-secular' card to deflect attention from real issues," Singh said

The Congress was out to spread a new epidemic named 'secularitis' in the country, he added.

Blaming the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government's policies for bringing the rupee to its lowest against the dollar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief said hollow promises and mere words would not be enough now.

"The economy is in shambles, the budget deficit is growing, this government is presiding over an economic catastrophe," said the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

Incidents of Maoist attacks and terrorism are on the rise but the Congress is only worried about coming back to power. He said the people of the country had made up their mind to boot out the corrupt UPA and hoped that the voters would give an emphatic win to the BJP. (IANS)
