BlackBerry Bold Set For August 16 Launch On Orange network

The new Blackberry Bold mobile phone has already set a solid impression, with making Orange its first network operator, which will provide this exclusive handset to the users in UK. August 16 will see the availability of the smartphone to all the Orange customers. The launch will be weeks ahead of T-Mobile, which had earlier announced the plans to launch the phone in the month of September and also restricted to only business customers.   

A statement passed by RIM’s chief operating officer, Don Morrison said, “The BlackBerry Bold is a breakthrough smart phone for both professional and personal use

Orange though is offering this Smartphone to all the customers, but the customers are required to sign a contract for 18 months and also agree to pay £45 per month. This tariff might include unlimited data usage and the handset is most likely to be free giving th users the advantage to surf the web at no additional cost.

The RIM’s new Blackberry Bold comes as challenge for Apple’s iPhone 3G. RIM is hoping to cut into Apple’s iPhone 3G sales by offering the new Blackberry Bold and at the same time stick to its traditional business market share. The Smartphone has consumer-oriented features which includes 2-mega pixel camera with video recording capability, a music player, GPS and Wi-Fi.

According to Hannes Ametsreiter, a senior executive vice president of Mobilkom, the Austrian carrier that is partnering with RIM, “The BlackBerry Bold smart phone perfectly combines state-of-the-art communications and multimedia functionality, attractive design, high-speed Internet access and an intuitive user experience, making it the perfect smart-phone solution.”
