Bodies of two Iraq blast victims handed over to kin in Chennai

Chennai, May 21 : Bodies of two Indians who died in an Iraqi bomb blast on May 8 were handed over to their relatives in Chennai today.

Ramesh Kumar and G. Senthil, the two blast victims, were working for a Kuwait transport company and were on a deputation to Iraq for a few months.

The kin of the victims thanked the State Government and the Indian Embassy for their efforts in bringing the bodies home.

"Senthil and Ramesh died in the Iraq bomb blast. With the help of the Indian embassy, the State Government and Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, the bodies are coming to Chennai Airport. We are worried about the death," said Baalu, brother of G. Senthil, a blast victim.

Kumar, working as a driver, belonged to Keelai Esanur village in Nagapattinam District, whereas Senthil, a native of Meenambakkam, a suburb of Chennai, was employed as a mechanic.

Usually workers from the poorer sections move to West Asia in search of employment and are then forced by the companies to go to Iraq. (ANI)
