Bridgestone will set up new plant in Chakan
As per a report by a leading news channel, the world's largest tyre maker, Bridgestone is going to set up a new plant in Chakan in Pune. The new plant will be a CV radial plant. The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Maharashtra Government for such a project. The company wants to enter to the Indian market with its full force.
The Pune plant will be the second plant of Bridgestone in India. The company has informed that there is a huge demand for the truck and bus tyres in the Indian market and the company's focus will be to fulfill this fast evolving radial tyre market of the country.
However, it has been expected that the company can come up with its third plant in next five years to manufacture tyres for the passenger car radial market. This market is growing at an enormous speed in India.
Bridgestone would be investing Rs 2,600 crore in Chakan and this investment will be done by phases. It will generate an employment opportunity for more than 1800 people.
