British Men Share the Household Burdens, Claims Research

A recent research claimed that from past 30 years, the time spend on the domestic works has been increased by 60%. The research was made public after the researchers at the Oxford University, at an international conference discussed lots of papers regarding the issue. They further claimed that over a decade, the gap with wives or girlfriends closed at the rate of 27 minutes.

However, the Office for National Statistics’ latest figures also stated that as compared to the employed women who work for 33.3 hours in salaried service, an effective man spends an average of 38.4 hours.

Meanwhile, Dr. Colin Gill, a Psychologist, showing his concern on the issue, accounted that due to the increased work load, as compared to women, men felt the most work force and as result of which, to save their masculinity and money, they are continuously working.

On the other hand, Professor Jonathan Gershuny, the Oxford University research center Director and Co-Author of the current study, while having a word with the Sunday Times, asserted, “It wouldn't surprise me if man overtakes woman in total hours worked. But while men are doing more cooking and homework, they are doing no extra laundry whatsoever. I am guilty [of that] too".
