Broadband connection at £150K , BTBT has asked a 71-year-old woman, Beverly McCartney for £150,000 as an installation charge for a broadband connection at her residence.

BT which aims at bringing faster Internet connections under the Regional Innovative Broadband Support Scheme (RIBS) has denied to avails this service to people who are located in rural locations, reports BBC.

The company contacted on behalf of RIBS, and asked for £142,000 of its £150,000 as an installation cost for the supply of broadband connection.

And adding slat to the wounds the company said, it is ready to pay the extra £8,000 on her behalf.

The 71 year old lady who thrives on a pension was shell shocked and expressed her disappointment by saying: "I couldn't afford £2,000, let alone £150,000."

Beverly McCartney lives in Salem, near Llandeilo, Camarthenshire, and adds further that she doesn’t stay on top of a mountain nor in the middle of nowhere, it’s just a rural area, but not a wild environment.
