BSNL employees begin nation-wide strike

BSNLThe employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) have started an indistinct nation-wide strike on Tuesday, 20th April. As the Sam Pitroda committee has given a proposal on voluntary retirement and divestment proposal, the BSNL employees are protesting against it.
 
According to the convener of the Joint Action Committee of BSNL Associations and Unions VAN Namboodiri in Delhi, the strike has started all across the country and there will be no work for an indefinite period of time. It will undoubtedly affect the calls in BSNL network.

Mr. Kuldeep Goyal, the Chairman and Managing director of BSNL has informed that 10,000 senior staff and employees of senior ITS cadre is not involved in the strike.  The employees' strike is not going to affect this workforce in the telecom services.
 
As per the Pitroda committee's recommendation, there will be a voluntary retirement service to one lakh employees as well as not to invest 30% for improving financial health of the PSU. The employees don't agree with such policies. However, Union Telecom Minister, Mr. A. Raja has also urged the employees to postpone the strike but it was in vain.
