The net profit of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. has come down to Rs 178 crore. This has been the most disappointing show of the state-owned firm in past few years. The market share of the company has also gone down drastically.
Reports suggest that the market share of the company has felled to a major 15.75%. Communications and IT Minister A Raja has accepted the fact in a written reply in Rajya Sabha. He has also produced some of the most substandard statistics about the company during these couple of years.
The overall market share of the company was 31.29% in the financial year 0f 2006-07. But it has touched down to almost 15.75% in February last year.
The IT Minister has also submitted the detailed report of an independent study. The study was on the states where consumers have surrendered their landline telephones just because of the augmented usage of mobile phones.
Raja has also informed that BSNL is still continuing to provide its service in Indian market with the help of management consultancy firm, Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
