TVS Motor logs sales growth in May

TVS-MotorChennai, June 2 : Two- and three-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company Ltd. closed May with 27 percent sales growth, the company said Monday.

In a statement the company said it sold 210,293 units last month, up from 165,151 units sold in May 2013.

Total two-wheeler sales increased from 159,346 units in May 2013 to 201,234 units in May 2014.

Three-wheeler sales of the company grew from 5,805 units in May 2013 to 9,059 units in May 2014.(IANS)

Maruti Suzuki's June sales up 19 percent in May

Maruti-SuzukiNew Delhi, June 2 : India's largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki Monday reported an increase of 19.2 percent in its total sales, including exports, for June at 100,925 units.

The company had sold 84,677 units in the corresponding month of 2013.

The company's domestic sales surged by 16.4 percent to 90,560 units during the month under review as compared to 77,821 units sold in the corresponding month of last year.

Maruti Suzuki exported 10,365 units last month, which was a rise of 51.2 percent from 6,856 units sold overseas during the corresponding month of 2013.

Hyundai Motor's May sales down nine percent

Hyundai-MotorChennai, June 2 : Automobile manufacturer Hyundai Motor India Monday reported a fall of nine percent in its sales for May at 51,718 units from 56,856 units in the corresponding month of last year.

However, the company said its domestic sales during the month under review grew by 12.8 percent and stood at 36,205 units - up from 32,102 units sold in the corresponding month of 2013.

The company's exports last month crashed by 37.3 percent at 15,513 units - down from 24,754 units shipped out during the corresponding month of last year.

DLF scrip rises 4.04 percent on healthy Q4 earningsMumbai, May 30 : The scrip of India's real estate development major DLF gained 4.04 percent on back of healthy earnings in the fourth quarter of the last fiscal ended March 31.

In the initial trading hours at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) the company's stocks gained as much as 4.04 percent at Rs. 212 from its previous close of Rs. 203.75.

The scrip's gain stood at 1.94 percent or 3.95 points at Rs. 207.70 around 2.00 p. m.

Indian Oil posts over 35 percent fall in Q4 net profit

Indian-OilNew Delhi, May 29 : Indian Oil Corp (IOC) Thursday posted a fall of 35.30 percent in net profit for the fourth quarter ended March at Rs. 9,389.85 crore, as compared to Rs. 14,512.81 crore for the same quarter in the previous year.

However, the state-run oil marketer's total income from operations rose by 5.75 percent at Rs. 134,867.42 crore for the quarter in question, as compared to Rs. 127,534.77 crore for the quarter ended March 2013.

Coal India Q4 net profit drops 18 percent

Coal-India-LtdKolkata, May 29 : State miner Coal India (CIL) Thursday posted an 18 percent drop in consolidated net profit at Rs. 4,434.19 crore for the fourth quarter ended March, as compared to that of Rs. 5,413.91 crore in the same quarter of fiscal 2013.

The world's largest miner ascribed the fall to a write-off caused by a dispute with state-run generator NTPC on the quality of coal supplied.

Hero MotoCorp Q4 net declines over 3 percent

Hero-MotoCorpNew Delhi, May 28 : Two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp Wednesday reported a 3.44 percent decline in its standalone net profits for the fourth quarter ended-March.

The company recorded a net profit of Rs. 554.43 crore during the January-March quarter as against that of Rs. 574.23 crore in the same quarter of previous fiscal.

JK Tyre net profit rises 29 percent

JK-TyresNew Delhi, May 28 : JK Tyre and Industries Wednesday reported a 29.37 percent rise in its net profit at Rs. 263.02 crore for the year ended March 31, 2014.

The company posted an operating profit of Rs. 890 crore for the fiscal under review posting an year-on-year increase of 41 percent.

The company's turnover in the period grew by nine percent at Rs. 8,279 crore.

Commenting on the figures, chairman and managing director of JK Tyre Raghupati Singhania said the company has performed well despite a subdued demand for tyres.

SJVNL earns net profit of Rs.1,114.63 crore

SJVNLShimla, May 28 : Power utility Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL) Wednesday declared that it earned a net profit of Rs. 1,114.63 crore in the last fiscal which was around six percent more than that of the previous fiscal.

In 2012-13, SJVNL's net profit was Rs. 1,052.34 crore, the company said in a statement here. It said the board of directors of the company, which met in New Delhi Wednesday, recommended a dividend payout of Re. 0.98 per share.

The net dividend payout, excluding taxes, for 2013-14 was Rs. 405.39 crore, the highest so far.

Jet Airways Q4 net loss at Rs.2,153 crore

Jet-AirwaysMumbai, May 27  Jet Airways Tuesday reported a net loss of Rs. 2,153.57 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2014, due to high fuel and interest costs.

The company had reported a net loss of Rs. 495.53 crore for the corresponding period of last fiscal.

For the year ended March 31, 2014, the airline posted a net loss of Rs. 3,667.85 crore from a loss of Rs. 485.50 crore in the like period of last fiscal.

In terms of consolidated results for the year ended March 31, 2014, the group posted a net loss of Rs. 4,129.76 crore from a loss of Rs. 779.78 crore.

City Union Bank net increases by 8 percent

City-Union-BankChennai, May 26 : Private sector City Union Bank closed last fiscal with a 16 percent growth in its total income and eight percent rise in net profit, said a top official of the lender Monday.

Announcing the bank's financial results for the year ended 31 March 2014 here, N. Kamakodi, managing director and chief executive officer, said: "We closed last year with a total income of Rs. 2,847.13 crore up from Rs. 2,462.39 crore earned the previous year. The net profit grew to Rs. 347.07 crore from Rs. 322.02 crore in 2012-13."

He said the board has recommended a dividend of 100 percent for the year that went by.

SBI net profit declines by 8 percent in Q4New Delhi, May 23State Bank of India (SBI), the country's largest lender, Friday said its net profit declined by 7.82 percent to Rs. 3,041 crore in January-March quarter of this year from Rs. 3,299 crore recorded in the same period last year.

This is the fifth consecutive quarter of decline in profit for the bank.

For the whole financial year 2013-14, the company posted a net profit of Rs. 14,174 crore, 20.89 percent lower than the Rs. 17,916 crore recorded in the previous fiscal.

According to The BBC, the company sold 55 million PCs during the year, extending its global market share to 17.7 percent, when the overall industry saw an 8 percent fall in PC sales.

In addition to PCs, Lenovo also sold nearly 50 million smartphones and around 9.2 million tablets.

RInfra notches Rs.1,914 crore net profit last fiscal

The total income for financial year 2014 was Rs. 20,274 (&3.4 billion), against Rs. 23,433 crore in the previous financial year when there was exceptional item of Rs. 379 crore pertaining to sale of RPower shares through Offer For Sale mechanism.

HDFC Q4 profit rises by 11 percentMumbai, May 6 : Mortgage lender Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) Tuesday said its net profit increased by 10.79 percent to Rs. 1,723.10 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2014.

The company had posted Rs. 1,555.21 crore profit in the like quarter of last year.

Total income of HDFC increased to Rs. 6,647.82 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs. 5,677.71 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2012-13.

Hyundai's May sales down 11.8 percent

HyundaiChennai, May 1 :  Automobile manufacturer Hyundai Motor India Thursday reported a fall of 11.8 percent in its total sales for April at 50,222 units from 56,953 units in the corresponding month of last year.

However, the company said its domestic sales during the month under review grew by 8.8 percent and stood at 35,248 units -- up from 32,403 units sold in the corresponding month of 2013.

The company's exports last month crashed by 39 percent at 14,974 units -- down from 24,550 units shipped out during the corresponding month of last year.

Maruti-Suzuki-salesNew Delhi, May 1 : India's largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki Thursday reported an 11.4 percent decline in total sales, including exports, for April as the figure stood at 97,302 units.

The company had sold 86,196 units in April 2013.

The company's domestic sales decreased by 12.6 percent to 79,119 units during the month under review as compared to 90,523 units sold in the corresponding month of last year.

However, Maruti Suzuki exported 7,077 units last month, which was an increase of 4.4 percent from 6,779 units sold overseas during the corresponding month of 2013.

Petronet LNG Q4 net profit down 31 percent

Petronet-LNGNew Delhi, April 30 : State-run gas importer Petronet LNG Wednesday reported a 31 percent fall in its fourth quarter (January-March) net profit to Rs. 169.3 crore from Rs. 245.14 crore logged in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

The company's total income increased from Rs. 8,487.86 crore for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2012-13 to Rs. 10,458.55 crore for the corresponding quarter ending March 2014.

Petronet's net profit for the full year ended March 2014 declined by 38 percent to Rs. 711.92 crore compared with Rs. 1,149.28 crore for the year ended March 31, 2013.

Jindal Steel Q4 net drops 28 percent

Jindal-Steel-PowerNew Delhi, April 29 : Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) Tuesday announced a 28 percent drop in consolidated net profit of Rs. 402.5 crore for the fourth quarter ended-March due to higher depreciation and interest as well as lower sales.

The company had posted a Rs. 562 crore net profit for the same quarter in the previous fiscal.

"Net profit is down because of a variety of reasons such as higher depreciation and interest and a planned shutdown in our Raigarh plant," JSPL chief executive Ravi Uppal said.
