With the intention to boost its declining sales figures, two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto Ltd is all set to roll out six (6) new models in 2009.

The company will start with a new product, which is due for debut on January 21. It will directly target rival Hero Honda’s most-popular Splendor/Passion range, the 135 cc XCD priced at Rs 45,000.

After this, the company will launch two new models under value-segment (125-135 cc engine size) by April and July 2009 respectively.

Industrial gas company BOC on Saturday revealed that it has secured an order from public sector steel major Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) for supply of gas to meet its increasing demand.

The company officials said that BOC has inked a 15-year long term gas supply contract with SAIL for supply of 2600 tpd of oxygen, nitrogen and argon gases to meet its incremental demand as it is expanding capacity at its Rourkela Steel Plant.

The work involves design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, supplying, erectioning and commissioning of Material Handling Equipments and other Equipment.

A newly formed joint venture between NaiDunia promoter and CEO Vinay Chhajlani and former Businessworld editor Jehangir S Pocha, has bought INX News, the company that runs the English news channel NewsX.

For this purpose, both Chhajlani and Pocha have formed a company called Indi Media. However, the size of the deal is still unknown.

Government would take stern action against the guilty involved in financial bungling in Satyam Computer Services. The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) would investigate the entire case after verification by the Registrar of Companies (RoC) in Hyderabad. Registrar of Companies is directed to prepare report by January 14. The role of Satyam's company secretaries, auditors and finance officials would also be investigated and action would be taken for their contribution in the biggest ever corporate fraud.
