Mobile services in Sri Lanka commenced by Bharti It was announced by India's top mobile operator, Bharti Airtel on Monday that mobile services in Sri Lanka has been launched by it and the company would also invest $200 million on the operation in the island.

Via its subsidiary Bharti Airtel Lanka, the company has launched the services on a third generation network. A suite of innovative services and redefined affordability by offering attractive call rates has also been launched by Airtel.

The Policemen would be required to cover several areas and locations in the city, in the search of unsecured Wi-Fi connections.

Virgin Mobile users would be glad to know that under the tie up, MySpace would offer its social networking services on Virgin Mobile's WAP-enabld phones starting at Rs 2,999.

Virgin Mobile's youth clients can access to world's major social networking site by simply click on the MySpace link on vBytes and log in the user ID and password. There will be a daily charge of just Rs 5 for accessing vBytes.

Flipsmartphone to be launched by Airtel, RIM On Wednesday, Airtel and Research in Motion (RIM) will announce the launch of BlackBerry Pearl Flipsmartphone in India. It has been learnt that the product would be priced at Rs 21,990.

The users are allowed to type and dial easily in the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 smartphone and the external display of smartphone provides previewing calendar reminders, email, text messages and phone calls.
