C02 Can Take Away Your Wrinkles

Wrinkles are concerns of most of the people. Most people don’t like their youthful spirit to be disarmed by the wrinkles of the old age. Every year millions of men and women spend large amount of money on the treatment of wrinkles.

According to the research of P. Daniel Ward, and Shan R. Baker from the University of Michigan carbon dioxide (CO2) can help in reducing wrinkles. The study showed that the CO2 laser vaporizes water molecules inside and outside cells, causing thermal damage to the surrounding tissue. Then the skin produces more of the protein collagen, filling in the wrinkles. The researchers said,

"These changes in skin pigmentation may be desirable, such as when patients wish to remove evidence of ageing; however, changes in pigmentation after treatment can often be a troubling adverse effect."

The study was conducted over 47 patients (42 women and five men, averaging 52 years) treated with carbon dioxide laser resurfacing on their entire face between 1996 and 2004.The researchers claimed that most of the side effects of this technique like acne or small white bumps known as milia could be cured with two years. Despite the complications this technique resulted in 45 per cent reduction in wrinkles and   long-term improvements.

This treatment was introduced in the early 1990s.But it loosed it reliability due to complaints including color being bleached out of skin or uneven darkened patches being left behind. The present study has stressed the efficiency of the carbon dioxide laser technique in fighting wrinkles. The patient doesn’t have to stay for long duration in the hospital. But the patients are advised to protect their skin from sun. Now many people can fulfill their desire to look young through this technique.
