Casio keyboard is 2007’s ‘best-selling toy’

Brisbane, Dec 24: The hottest selling toy this Christmas is the humble toy piano keyboard, according to Australian retailer Big W.

The Discount department store chain Big W said that classic toys and ‘brands of years gone by’ are the top buys for children this Christmas.

Wooden dollhouse also found a place in the top 10 list at the second spot, followed by Tamagotchi Jinsei and radio control dragonfly.

 The Monopoly board game also made it into the retailer's top 10 Christmas toys list, along with digital cameras and helicopters.

Big W's head toy buyer David Lane said this year’s top toys are more traditional and educational, as well as involving sustained concentration.

"This year's top toys are more traditional and educational as well as involving sustained concentration," Brisbanetimes.com.au quoted Lane, as saying.

"With so many keyboards now under Christmas trees Australia can expect a new generation of budding Chris Martins, Ray Charles and Chopins,” Lane added.

Lane said that doll was still one of the retailer's most keenly sought toys.
