The CBI has finally traced the NRI mother, who eluded the police of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Chandigarh for over two years after she fled US to come to India along with her minor son violating American court orders.

IT professional Vijayashree Voora, suspected to be mentally unstable, and her son Aditya Chandran were tracked by a CBI team when they were shifting hotels in Chennai on Saturday.

On a petition filed by her former husband V Ravi Chandran, the Supreme Court had directed the CBI on August 29 to trace the mother-child duo, as the police of the four states could not locate them. All three are US nationals.

Chandran, a pharmaceutical scientist in Florida (US), had moved the court in September 2007 seeking the production of his son and handing over the minor’s custody and passport to him alleging that the mother violated US court orders on joint custody of the child.

The mother and son were brought them to Delhi by air and produced before Justice Tarun Chatterjee at the residence. The Judge has directed the CBI produce them before his court on Tuesday.

The father, who has produced a six-part documentary on his son’s ‘rescue’ in English, Hindi, Tamil Telugu and Kannada and has also launched a website www. rescueaditya. org, said, “The CBI has done a very good job. I am hopeful that I will get justice.”

Ravi Chandran and Vijayashree got married on December 14, 2000 at Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh according to Hindu rites and the child was born to them on July 1, 2002 in the US. But soon matrimonial discord arose between them leading to divorce in 2005.
