Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ELCOT, a state government promotional agency for IT industries, for the purpose of undertaking research in the areas of Open Source software, e-Governance etc.

The scope of this strategic alliance between C-DAC and ELCOT is to install BOSS Linux across the state in all Government departments for their productivity application and e-Governance applications, large scale promotional activities in the areas of Open source Software, e-Governance, setting up of BOSS Linux support centre within ELCOT campus.

BOSS (Bharat Operating System Solutions) is an Indian Version of Linux distribution developed by C-DAC, Chennai for increasing the use of Free / Open Source Software in the country.
